Family Wish List
These are things that are appropriate to get either Bill or Marie, or as couple/family presents
House
- Gift certificates to Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Ikea for
pretty household things & useful kitchen stuff
- A 12" non-stick frying pan with a lid, preferably somewhat deep
- A new hi-def TV sure would be nice, so we can actually use the Blu-Ray player to full capacity. (yeah, I realize we dream big :-) I don't care if
it's flat-screen or whatever, but it would have to fit inside our TV cabinet as I can't stand seeing the TV clutter up the room when it's not
even on. I found a note online that says "it holds most 32" TVs".
- Digital picture frames to hang on the wall, like one
of these
- Serving dishes, like dip dishes, serving platters, and serving
bowls, for when we have company over.
- Carry out dishes to make it easier to carry food to potluck dinners.
For example, the casserole dishes with lids and insulated carry bags. Or something
to carry pies in to keep them from getting squished. That sort of
thing.
- This one is a real biggie!! We would love to be able to replace our
worn out and falling apart sofa set with a new one from Ikea. The line
of products is named Ektorp. We desperately want a sofa,
2 chairs,
and a footstool (which isn't currently listed online for some reason
but is designated as Ektorp Bromma). We'd prefer the Svanby gray slipcovers but white would certainly do as it's a lot cheaper. Even
just getting one piece of the set would reduce our expenditures
greatly, and would be very much appreciated! A few brightly colored
throw pillows to liven it up would be appreciated as well.
- A fireproof, burglar-proof safe for the garage so we can protect
valuables without having to pay for a safety deposit box
- The ongoing water problem in the dining room area continues to worsen. Eventually, we have to get some foundation guys to repair the crack so it will
stop flooding. When we have that fixed, we will have to replace the carpet and we will have to replace some of the kitchen cabinets that have collapsed
from the water seepage. I expect we also need to rip out the drywall through there and replace it. I don't even know where to begin on all this. :-(
- I'm thinking about getting a Wii. I know - I'm not a big supporter of video games in general, but I'm thinking we could have some fun family
nights. I'm also rather interested in the Wii Fit stuff for those days where it is hard to get to the gym, which is more and more often.
Yard
- We need to replace the fence around the pool, as it's falling apart
and the gate won't even go on. It's extremely dangerous and I worry
about the kids falling in. That said, a new fence is going to cost
$500-$1000 (maybe even more) and we just don't have the money for it. If you would like
to donate money or labor to the cause, it would be very appreciated.
- A new ladder for the pool as the old one fell into pieces. Only Bill
know the specs for the ladder.
- A safety pool cover, that locks in place so if a child fell on it, it wouldn't pull them under the water. They are also usually mesh so rain
water passes through without weighting it down in the center (and thus creating a water hazard)
- Speaking of the pool, it is incredibly expensive to maintain. Incredibly so. We'd love to have it open for freinds and family, but we can't afford
it presently. Before we can next open it, we will have to have some professionals come take a look at it, I think. And the chemicals run multiple
hundreds of dollars. Just sayin'...
Golf Cart (Yamaha)
- A locking
dash cover so I don't have to worry about people stealing things
- Seat covers - no vinyl or fur! Canvas or fleece sounds nice to me.
The cart is a primary blue, so something neutral is probably the way
to go. We would actually want a set for the front seat and one for the
back, though I'm not sure what brand seat covers would go in the back.
Most of the Yamaha seat covers are three piece sets (seat bottom plus
two seat backs) but the back seat only needs a two piece set (seat
bottom and a single seat back that stretches across)
Work
- We'd love to get some much needed software packages for our work stuff. Adobe Creative Suite 4 sits at the top of the list.
- Microsoft Office Professional 2007 (Full version rather than Upgrade version)
Misc
- Any of the classic Christmas movies or TV shows on DVD, other than The
Year Without a Santa Claus. You know, like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and the like.
- Decorations for the yard/golf cart/inside the house for the various holidays. The boys have really taken to enjoying
decorating for holidays, and we have almost nothing for any holiday other than Christmas, and even those decorations are mostly
limited to Christmas tree ornaments. Any holiday, from Valentine's Day to Veteran's Day to Thanksgiving to whatever, is appreciated.
- A gift certificate to some place that does family portraits, like Sears
- A family-sized
toiletries bag for family trips away (I like the plum color, but
red or black will do if plum is sold out)
- Pushing Daisies on DVD, season 1 or season 2
- We would like to get little ceramic plates with baby pictures of each of the kids to hang on the wall. Meaning, three plates - each one
has a baby picture of one of the kids. There are places online that do this if you upload the pictures.
- Gift cards to Disney in any denomination, so we can start saving for our next Disney vacation (http://tickets.disney.go.com/buy/TicketTrans?storeID=DRD&category=GIFT_CARDS&tokens=XpCiXYOAztTEx%2F9Es4ZElRmgpDWnAfrzwJZFO1%2Fv%2FTZ%2FvnBSjBEmq6%2B2RZ%2BXauZ7ZFcg1VDqTMcqB%2FuWIVkkch0UrBt9R1%2FnZk%2F4I8i2LxnILsvS9Qbi83%2Fl9gqfdMK1MGYAVUr%2F9IIa8ckcoMvQM13vMKNx5eIep%2B6uf3chs%2BlCMZdA4bMYPYLYtyrEPRtACLoz%2FsRkT1%2BMMCx%2BtxCxVcUCxoR%2FQrhRKWvlh0CNBWRLOcrKTGMNHIWIEU4Dh3UeLO%2FhiNVjH6w1%2BmactsaRnHcLY1LZ%2BSX0M%2FxmOLnsmGnZuezIsbQJQz4cQElHUIXlFB39v6yRuwW1w7kKPNUen9nhL6HUXt8Bc8J7xAUU4YJAgNVMOYHpVSsq4svMt9E2c8J7xAUU4YJ6F7vyjan%2FDMLqKDMEM701e3wqgazu8tHrgmnSVMchhB0AyzC%2BXxykiO4VJWUSGUzaiWL9CwQtlZINcTgiA7z37ANzWoybvudpy3T7gZSZVe%2BpZwfRRz0Z89H8l00mcrHvzhlKMMyaUgyAGLHocfkvEe6suZEexVsnAcmh%2BC%2BRTwyAGLHocfkv1lJ%2F0i%2BygYaSV2cz%2FqezZJi02U%2B0jZKHLnVM7FZMqHLD0z1JHJoVZbeQ64SKDLSkxs8EjVdN17DG2Oou24DnvniwffuEcZY7K1CfXfwSSXfMBL%2Fe%2BjVLHfqp56oywppNUZzpyYgw%2FIu%2BsThkpmb8WRDHR2Aw1X7K2jlqvbPktBMQx0dgMNV%2ByqcyF5fv28Ne8CiqYQakiqOOU%2B8nF0tFCAewMJFSnQEw0a%2FJZBG7B15lDLwmddy2FYIaEH5JiYTQNBlX92T9J5VJivGJAhc2%2BNi06TIbJXWZKq%2FI6zQGHdXM%2FVNvYvhzr1dbImsP7EIF%2FOX2545KEgGEo68F26iUbA%3D%3D&drnid=4525764)
